Description
Analog 0-30V Add-on for Shelly The Pill is an interface for measuring voltages and analogue signals, designed for monitoring batteries, solar panels or industrial sensors with an analogue output. The add-on can measure DC voltages of up to 30V, making it suitable for the most popular battery types: 4.2V, 12V and 24V, as well as for standard 0-5V analogue sensors.
By integrating a voltage divider on the analogue input, the add-on converts the input signal into a range that is safe to read, allowing continuous monitoring of the charge level of car, solar or industrial batteries directly from the Shelly app. The measured data can be used for automatic alerts when the voltage drops below a critical threshold.
It is useful in applications such as monitoring off-grid solar systems, backup batteries for UPSs, or industrial sensors that transmit data via an analogue voltage signal, giving complete visibility of the status of critical equipment.
Caution: the add-on requires the 5-Terminal Add-on module (sold separately) to connect to The Pill by Shelly; it measures DC voltages only, not current or AC signals.
Practical use cases
- Monitors the voltage of 12V or 24V batteries in an off-grid solar system and sends an alert when it drops below a critical threshold.
- Tracks the charge level of a UPS backup battery directly from the Shelly app.
- Reads the signal of a 0-5V analogue industrial sensor and uses the measured value in automations.
- Measures the voltage of a car battery, so you are notified in good time when it needs recharging.
