AQARA Hub M3 – The new-generation Matter controller for AQARA and third-party devices

The M3 hub redefines smart home automation with its focus on privacy and local operation – no internet connection required. It offers a variety of connectivity options, such as dual-band Wi-Fi and PoE, and is equipped with a 360° IR transmitter, which allows air conditioners to be connected to Matter and adjusted according to the actual temperature detected by the climate sensor. As a multi-protocol hub, it seamlessly integrates Aqara devices and also – for the first time – Matter devices from other manufacturers, ensuring both privacy and easy installation.

Highlights:

Multi-protocol compatibility and Matter support
The M3 hub connects Aqara Zigbee and Thread devices to the Matter ecosystem, removing any worries about compatibility between protocols.

Edge Computing & stable local control
Automations run locally, for greater stability and lower latency. The „hub replacement” function allows upgrading from older models without losing control of your devices.
(Some functions such as push notifications, weather, sunrise/sunset or geolocation still require a cloud connection.)

IR control integrated into Matter
Control IR appliances (air conditioning, TV, etc.) directly via Matter, including in Apple Home – a first. Place the Hub next to the AC unit and you will see the changes in real time in the app.

Superior connectivity
Dual-band Wi-Fi for better speed and coverage, an RJ45 port for wired networking and flexible power via PoE or USB-C.

Privacy and encrypted storage
Your data stays stored locally, without being sent to the cloud – an extra layer of security and privacy.

Easy installation, wherever you need it
It is simple to mount, making it ideal for beginners. It works in multiple scenarios, thanks to its versatile power options and quick setup via the app.

Built-in speaker for alerts and voice notifications
The hub can play alarms, custom tones or voice notifications. For example, it can sound automatically when a motion sensor detects a person.

Note:

• At launch, support for third-party devices is a Lab feature, limited to 3 brands:

  • Philips Hue (RGB/CCT lamps)

  • Leviton (switches/dimmers)

  • Google Nest (thermostats)

• For integration into Matter ecosystems (Apple, Google, Alexa), a platform-specific Matter Controller is required.
