Ecowitt WS90 (WittBoy) – 7-in-1 weather station, Powered by Shelly, haptic rain sensor and sonic anemometer, natively integrated into the Shelly ecosystem

Ecowitt WS90 (WittBoy), Powered by Shelly, is a professional 7-in-1 weather station that combines measurement of temperature, humidity, wind speed and direction, rainfall, UV index and ambient light in a single compact device installed outdoors. It is natively integrated into the Shelly ecosystem, allowing weather data to be displayed directly in the Shelly app and used in smart home automations.

Unlike conventional weather stations with moving mechanical parts, the WS90 uses a sonic (ultrasonic) anemometer to measure wind speed, eliminating mechanical wear and the need for periodic maintenance, and a haptic rain sensor with no moving parts, which detects the impact and vibration of each drop for accurate rainfall measurement even in difficult weather conditions.

The device has dual Bluetooth and Zigbee connectivity, working on both protocols simultaneously, and is solar powered with backup AA batteries, eliminating the need for wiring or frequent battery changes. It is suitable for gardens, farms, greenhouses or any location where local weather data is essential for automations such as irrigation or ventilation.

Please note: it must be installed in an open, unobstructed area, for correct wind readings and enough sun exposure to charge the built-in panel.

Practical use cases

• Monitors local weather conditions (temperature, humidity, wind, rainfall) right in your own garden or yard, more accurately than a general forecast.
• Can trigger weather-based automations, for example stopping automatic irrigation when rain is detected.
• Useful for gardening enthusiasts or swimming pool owners who need accurate weather data for maintenance.
• The data can be integrated into smart home apps for more complex weather-related automations.

Technical specifications

For smart gardening or professional weather monitoring integrated directly into the Shelly ecosystem, the WS90 WittBoy station offers high accuracy with no mechanical maintenance.
