What does "open box" mean?

Open-box products are returned products with opened or damaged packaging, but fully checked from a technical point of view and completely functional. They come with the same warranty as new products.

The DS18B20 temperature sensor with 3-metre cable is a precision digital accessory, compatible with Shelly devices that provide a dedicated input for this type of sensor, such as the Plus Add-on models or other Shelly modules with DS18B20 support. The long 3-metre cable allows the sensor to be positioned away from the main device, which is useful when the measuring point is not near the electrical panel.

The DS18B20 digital sensor provides precise temperature readings, sent directly to the Shelly device it is connected to, and can be used in automations such as starting a recirculation pump at a certain water temperature, monitoring a water heater, a greenhouse or an industrial freezer/fridge.

As a wired sensor, its moisture-resistant housing allows installation in more demanding environments, such as the outside of a house, a cellar or next to a water pipe, where direct temperature measurement is needed for precise automations.

Please note: this sensor requires a Shelly device compatible with a DS18B20 input in order to be used; it does not work on its own and does not connect directly to WiFi.

Practical use cases

• Attaches to compatible Shelly devices to measure the temperature of a liquid or a surface (water heater, boiler, pipe), not just the ambient temperature.
• Useful for monitoring the temperature of domestic hot water or a heating system, with alerts in case of overheating or excessive cooling.
