What does "open box" mean?

Open-box products are returned products with opened or damaged packaging, but fully checked from a technical point of view and completely functional. They come with the same warranty as new products.

Shelly BLU Motion is a battery-powered Bluetooth motion and light sensor, designed for fast presence and lighting automations. It detects human movement using a PIR sensor and measures the ambient light level, with configurable thresholds for triggering automations.

A response time of under 100 milliseconds ensures an almost instant response when motion is detected, and the detection range of up to 9 metres, at an angle of 120 degrees, effectively covers rooms of ordinary size. The included CR2477 battery provides up to 5 years of battery life.

It is suitable for automatically switching on lights in hallways, on stairs or in bathrooms when motion is detected, for security alarms that signal unexpected presence in a room, or for scenarios that automatically switch off the lights when a room remains unoccupied for a while.

Note: Shelly BLU Motion communicates exclusively via Bluetooth and requires a Shelly BLU gateway or another Shelly Plus, Pro, Gen3 or Gen4 device that can act as a BLE bridge to the Wi-Fi network in order to be integrated into the Shelly Smart Control app.

Practical use cases

• Placed in a hallway or on a staircase, it automatically switches on the light via a Shelly relay when it detects motion, only if the ambient light level is low.
• Placed in a room that should be empty (storeroom, office after hours), it sends a notification to the phone when an unexpected presence is detected.
• In the bathroom or the children's bedroom, it automatically turns off the lights after the room has been unoccupied for a certain period.
• Requires a Shelly BLU Gateway or another Shelly Gen3/Gen4 device nearby (with Bluetooth enabled) to transmit data to the app and the internet.
