What does "open box" mean?

Open-box products are returned products with opened or damaged packaging, but fully checked from a technical point of view and completely functional. They come with the same warranty as new products.

The Shelly BLU Button Tough 1 Black is a rugged Bluetooth smart button, designed for outdoor mounting or for areas where it is exposed to harsher conditions than an ordinary indoor button. The robust housing makes it suitable for gardens, terraces, garages or other covered outdoor areas, where it protects the electronics from dust and water splashes.

As a BLU device, it communicates via Bluetooth Low Energy and requires a Shelly gateway (BLU Gateway or another Shelly device with the BLE gateway function enabled) to pass commands on to the Wi-Fi network and integrate them into automation scenes. The internal battery provides long autonomy, with no wiring required.

It is useful for quick control of outdoor lighting, automatic gates, garden pumps or any load connected via a Shelly relay, operated with a simple press of a button mounted within reach, next to the door, the gate or in the garden. It can be configured for single-click, double-click or long-press actions, each triggering different scenes.

Please note: this button requires a Shelly BLU gateway (for example the BLU Gateway Gen3 or another compatible Shelly device) to communicate with the Wi-Fi network and activate connected devices; it does not work on its own without this intermediary.

Practical use cases

• Mounted next to the gate or at the entrance to the yard, it switches on the outdoor lighting with a single press, via a Shelly relay.
• Fixed in the garage or near the garden area, it turns the garden pump connected to a Shelly relay on and off, without wiring to the button.
• Configured with different actions: a single press switches on the terrace lights, a double press controls the automatic gate, and a long press switches off all outdoor lighting.
• Requires a Shelly BLU Gateway or another nearby Shelly Gen3/Gen4 device (with Bluetooth enabled) to relay commands to the app and the internet.
