Description
What does "open box" mean?
Open-box products are returned products with opened or damaged packaging, but fully checked from a technical point of view and completely functional. They come with the same warranty as new products.
The Shelly LoRa Add-on is an expansion module that brings long-range communication, up to 5 km with an external antenna, to compatible Shelly Gen3 and Gen4 devices. Based on LoRa technology, the module ensures secure and efficient transmission even in hard-to-reach areas or areas with obstacles, where traditional Wi-Fi solutions cannot reach.
Communication is protected by AES-CCM encryption and supports unicast, multicast and broadcast addressing via Shelly's own protocol. The module operates in the EU868, US915 and BR915-928 bands (support for AU915-928 is coming), and allows custom scripts for project-specific automations.
At least two devices fitted with the LoRa Add-on are required for operation - one for transmitting and one for receiving. The module attaches via Shelly's proprietary serial interface, with no additional wiring.
It is frequently used for street lighting automation, for irrigation and precision farming in the field, for car park management with motion-activated lighting, for warehouse automation and for remote control of equipment in facilities without Wi-Fi coverage.

- Controlling irrigation in the field, where Wi-Fi does not reach, over distances of up to 5 km with an external antenna (depending on conditions).

- Custom scripts that send commands from a transmitting Shelly device to one or more receivers, via unicast, multicast or broadcast addressing.
