What does "open box" mean?

Open-box products are returned products with opened or damaged packaging, but fully checked from a technical point of view and completely functional. They come with the same warranty as new products.

Shelly Wave Door/Window LR is a smart Z-Wave door and window sensor, equipped with Long Range technology that provides coverage of over 1km in a straight line when used with a compatible LR receiver. The sensor detects the opening and closing of a door or window and instantly sends the status to the central hub.

In addition to its basic function, the device also measures the tilt angle, useful for detecting when a tilt-and-turn window is partially open, and includes a light sensor that can trigger additional automations, such as switching on the lights in the dark when a door is opened.

It runs on a single included CR2032 battery, with a battery life of up to 2 years thanks to the low consumption of the Z-Wave protocol. It supports both the standard Z-Wave mesh topology and the Long Range star topology, offering flexibility depending on the type of hub used, as well as quick setup via SmartStart and S2 Authenticated security with AES128 encryption.

Please note: this sensor requires a compatible Z-Wave hub or controller to operate; Long Range mode requires a compatible Z-Wave LR receiver to benefit from the extended coverage.

Practical use cases

• Mounted on a door or window, it instantly reports the open/closed state to the Z-Wave hub, for notifications or security scenarios.
• On a tilt window, measuring the tilt angle shows whether the window is just ajar or fully open.
• The integrated light sensor allows the lights to switch on automatically in the dark when the door is opened.
• In Long Range mode, with a compatible Z-Wave LR controller, it monitors doors and windows in outbuildings or secondary buildings located a long way from the hub.
• Note: Requires a compatible Z-Wave hub/controller (e.g. Home Assistant with a Z-Wave adapter) to be connected to the network and controlled from the app.
