What does "open box" mean?

Open-box products are returned products with opened or damaged packaging, but fully checked from a technical point of view and completely functional. They come with the same warranty as new products.

The Shelly Dimmer Gen3 is a single-channel dimming controller designed for remote control of dimmable light sources - dimmable LED bulbs, halogen, incandescent or electronic transformers. It can work both with and without a neutral wire, which makes it suitable for retrofitting existing electrical installations without additional wiring work.

The device is equipped with Shelly's own processor with 8 MB of flash memory and offers Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity. Bluetooth is used for quick inclusion of the device in the Shelly Smart Control app and can act as a gateway for other nearby Shelly BLU devices; the Wi-Fi can additionally act as a range extender for the local network.

The Shelly Dimmer Gen3 supports dimmable LED bulbs up to 150 W, incandescent and halogen bulbs up to 200 W, iron-core transformers for low-voltage lamps up to 200 VA and dimmable electronic transformers up to 200 W. When used without a neutral wire and the load is below 20 W, a Shelly Bypass module is required for correct operation. The device accepts control via a single or double button, with configurable dimming speed, automatic calibration of the dimming range and gamma correction for a smooth brightness transition across the full adjustment range.

Advanced functions include night mode, with a predefined reduced brightness for certain time slots, advanced schedules with brightness variation throughout the day, and the ability to gradually start bulbs that need a higher initial energy pulse (the "warm-up" function). When used with a neutral wire, the device also provides energy consumption metering (voltage, current, power).

In practice, the Shelly Dimmer Gen3 is ideal for retrofitting existing lighting installations without a neutral wire, for creating gradual lighting scenes in the morning or evening, for activating night mode with reduced brightness during sleep hours, or for controlling LED strips and dimmable halogen/incandescent lamps directly from the app or by voice command.

The Shelly Dimmer Gen3 does not require a hub and can be controlled locally or remotely via the Shelly Smart Control app, the built-in web interface or integrations with Google Home, Amazon Alexa, Home Assistant and Samsung SmartThings. It supports scripting, webhooks, MQTT, KNXnet/IP and virtual components, and is ready for an update to the Matter protocol.
