What does "open box" mean?
Open-box products are returned products with opened or damaged packaging, but fully checked from a technical point of view and completely functional. They come with the same warranty as new products.
FrankEver Smart Water Valve DN20 is a smart motorised valve, powered by Shelly, designed for remote control of the water supply in homes, gardens or commercial spaces. The valve body is made of SS304 stainless steel and industrial plastics, with IP65 protection against dust and water splashes, suitable for installation in plant rooms or covered outdoor areas.
The valve offers precise control of the opening position, between 0 and 100%, not just simple on/off switching, which allows the water flow to be regulated. It is certified for drinking water (NSF) and supports connecting a DS18B20 temperature sensor for automations related to frost or thermal monitoring of the installation.
Being fitted with a Shelly chip, the valve connects directly to the local WiFi network and via Bluetooth, without needing a separate hub, and can act as a WiFi range extender and BLE gateway for other Shelly devices nearby. It is useful for automatically shutting off the water when a leak is detected, scheduled irrigation or remote control of the water supply while the occupants are away.
Attention: the product has a backup power supply so it can close or open the valve even during a power cut, but it requires an external power supply via a 2A USB Type-A adapter for normal operation.
Practical use cases
- Mounted on the main water pipe and paired with a Shelly flood sensor, it automatically shuts off the water supply to the home as soon as a leak is detected.
- Used for scheduled garden irrigation, with opening and closing at fixed times from the app and flow adjustment through the opening position between 0 and 100%.
- Recommended for holiday homes or homes left unattended, where the water supply can be shut off or turned on remotely.
- Together with a DS18B20 temperature sensor, it can trigger frost protection automations for the plumbing.
