Shelly Bypass R2 (accessory for Shelly 1L and Shelly Dimmer 2)

Shelly Bypass for 1L/2L is an essential accessory for lighting installations without a neutral wire, designed to be used together with the Shelly 1L Gen3 or Shelly 2L Gen3 in 240VAC circuits where no neutral conductor is available at the switch. Without this bypass, low-power LED bulbs may flicker, glimmer or stay faintly lit even when switched off.

The device is mounted directly in the lamp holder or in the junction box next to the light source, connected between Live and Neutral, and allows Shelly 1L/2L Gen3 relays to work correctly even when the connected load is a very low-consumption LED bulb, under 5W. In practice, it provides a constant minimum load that stabilises the operation of the relay in installations without neutral.

It is especially useful in older homes, where the original wiring did not include a neutral conductor at the wall switches, while still allowing an upgrade to smart WiFi control without having to completely redo the electrical installation. It is especially recommended for low-power LED light fittings.

Caution: installation must be carried out by qualified personnel, because the bypass works directly with mains voltage; it is needed only for installations without a neutral conductor and only together with Shelly 1L or 2L Gen3.

• It is connected in parallel with a low-power LED bulb, eliminating flickering or partial switch-off caused by a load too low for the Shelly 1L/2L Gen3 relay.
