Shelly Flood Gen4 – Smart flood sensor with flexible cable for extended detection

Shelly Flood Gen4 is a smart flood and rain sensor with an extendable 2-metre detection cable, designed to cover both small spaces such as bathrooms or kitchens and larger areas when several sensor cables are connected in series, up to 150 metres of total coverage. It supports two detection modes: flood and rain, useful for both indoor and outdoor applications.

The device offers three configurable alarm modes: intense, normal and economy, allowing the sensitivity to be adjusted to the monitored area. Multiple connectivity (WiFi, Zigbee and Bluetooth), together with native Matter support, allows direct integration into almost any existing smart home ecosystem, from Apple HomeKit to Google Home or Samsung SmartThings.

Being battery-powered, it can be mounted wherever leak detection is needed, with no extra wiring: under the washing machine, next to the water heater, in the cellar or next to the gutters for rain detection. The IP44 protection rating makes it resistant to splashes and moderate moisture.

Note: the sensor runs on battery and includes a local buzzer for an immediate alert, in addition to the remote notifications sent via the app; check the battery status periodically to ensure continuous operation.

Practical use cases

• Placed on the floor, next to the washing machine, water heater or under the sink, it detects water leaks and sends an instant alert, preventing major damage.
• Combined with a smart solenoid valve, it can automatically shut off the home's water supply as soon as a leak is detected.
• Recommended for homes left unattended for long periods, where a leak not detected in time can cause significant damage.
• Can be placed at several risk points in the home (kitchen, bathroom, boiler) for complete coverage.
